Scotland’s Flood Resilience Conference 2027

Verture is delighted to announce that Scotland’s Flood Resilience Conference will return to Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh on 26 and 27 January 2027.

 

The 2027 conference will build on last year’s focus on identifying actions to implement Scotland’s National Flood Resilience Strategy.

 

This year, we want to explore how Scotland’s wider flood resilience community can turn those ambitions into action, sharing what is already being delivered, what we are learning and what is needed to accelerate progress.

We would particularly welcome contributions that address the following questions:

• How do we turn strategy into action?
  Implementation of the Flood Resilience Strategy; governance, leadership, planning, accountability, policy alignment and overcoming barriers to delivery.
• How do we adapt to changing flood risk?
  Coastal adaptation, long-term transition and relocation; changing levels and patterns of flood risk; lived experience; and how communities navigate difficult decisions about their future.
• What works on the ground?
  Practical delivery and case studies, including property flood resilience, nature-based solutions, catchment and land management, planning, infrastructure, community resilience and place-based approaches.
• How can better evidence lead to better decisions?
  Climate scenarios, data, research, monitoring, AI and uncertainty; alongside lived experience, citizen science and creative approaches to understanding flood risk.
• What will enable us to deliver at scale?
  Finance, investment, skills, workforce, infrastructure, maintenance, business involvement, collaboration and the partnerships and resources needed to make flood resilience happen.

Across all themes, we are particularly interested in examples of social and technical innovation, good practice, Just Resilience and lessons learned. While our focus is on Scotland, we are also keen to learn from approaches elsewhere where they offer useful lessons for Scotland.

If you would like to contribute to the conference, we invite you to submit a proposal for either a 15-minute presentation or a 60–90 minute workshop/breakout session using our SurveyMonkey form: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/QZVF6YT. The deadline for submitting proposals for contributions is Wednesday 28^th October 2026.
