Showcasing Local Climate Action: MP Maureen Burke Visits Pavillion

Pavillion

Creative Climate Futures continues to draw attention for its place-based approach to climate action – and recently, the project welcomed a special visitor keen to learn more about its work on the ground.

On Friday, Maureen Burke, MP for Easterhouse, visited Pavillion to hear first-hand about the different strands that make Creative Climate Futures so unique. As a former councillor for the area, Maureen is already familiar with the people and places that shape Easterhouse. Her visit provided an opportunity to explore how the project is supporting local creativity, collaboration, and climate resilience in new ways.

The visit brought together several contributors to the project. Jordan spoke about his work with local organisations like Denmilne Action Group, who joined the visit. Artist Rebecca Fraser shared insights from her creative work across Future Spa, Make Do, and the Festival of Flora. The team at Platform, who have hosted numerous Creative Climate Futures events, were recognised for their support. The wider context of Verture’s work on climate adaptation was also discussed, along with exciting developments around the new park being led by Simon, Gerry, and the team at Pavillion.

Maureen’s support for the work was clear. Her enthusiasm and backing were appreciated by everyone involved, and her visit helped underline the importance of sustained investment in local, creative climate action.

Ongoing liaison with Maureen and her team is planned over the summer to keep her updated on the project’s progress and impact.
