Congratulations to Jo Kerr, our CEO, who has been shortlisted for the Rising Leader of the Year Award at this year’s Charity Times Awards. This award is for a UK charity CEO who has demonstrated dedication, professionalism and integrity throughout their short career, and who has produced an identifiably profound effect on the sector through their work and management and shows great potential going forward.

Since becoming CEO in December 2024, Jo has led Verture through a period of significant transformation, setting a clear and ambitious direction at a critical moment for climate resilience in the UK. Her work includes taking an innovative co-design approach to creating our new just resilience strategy, securing our first corporate partnership as part of diversifying our funding model, and co-founding the UK’s Climate Ready Leaders Network.

Jo said: “Being shortlisted for this award is a testament to all that we have achieved together at Verture over the last 18 months. It comes at a time when our work has never felt more vital. The recent heatwaves have shown in stark terms how ill-prepared the UK is to deal with the impacts of our changing climate and how disproportionately this is felt across society. Our vision of a resilient and fair future for all is at the heart of all of we do, and it’s an honour to be at the helm of Verture as we help bring about the climate resilience and adaptation needed to ensure that future generations will thrive.”

The winner of the award will be announced at the award ceremony in London on 23 September. Good luck, Jo!
